This video features a beautiful rendition of “The Hanging Tree” with music composed and performed by my friend Amanda Thrasher. It was posted on YouTube in 2010, just days after Mockingjay was released.
Today, while searching YouTube for MORE versions of “The Hanging Tree,” I came across the second video, a version by Sam Cushion released in 2011.
Sound familiar?
This song melody belongs to Amanda. She did give permission for people to use her version if they credited her work and did not use the song for monetary gain. Amanda is not credited and Sam has posted the song on both iTunes and bandcamp.
This guy claims that he is a Nerdfighter. Y’all, this is clearly forgetting to be awesome.
